ESA Predicts Humans Living in ‘Space Oases’ on Mars in 2040

The European Space Agency (ESA) presented expectations for people living on other planets as early as 2040 in a newly renovated document.

Technology 2040 vision It predicts people living in “autonomous habitats outside the country” on the moon, Mars and beyond, following what it predicts will be “fast technology evolution” in the coming years.

In a twitterESA General Josef Aschbacher called a document as a “call to action”, as part of the folder of the road to the construction of “the resistant European presence through the Earth’s orbit and beyond”.

The document was published to clarify that the research and residence could look in the near future. The next steps in exploring people outside the Earth’s orbit “will include a longer stay and further destinations,” his authors wrote.

This new wave of research will support “space oases”, self -sustainable habitats that will protect astronauts using “circular resource management”. The result should allow astronauts to spend far longer in space compared to current missions that are most limited to about six months, the authors added.

Future space habitats will use “smart materials” and “In-Situ production”, while supplies will be delivered using “high speed logistics” and technologies like mass drivers.

Do all this, while the environmental impact on the minimum is challenges, the authors noted. “Reaching true sustainability requires a kind of circular thinking that is increasingly seen on Earth,” with a “holistic” approach to using resources.

“The ability to divert and recycling materials in orbit is not only key to sustainability, but it will also allow new markets and abilities and add additional commercial value to the space property,” the report said, based on the predictions of ESA director for space technology, engineering and quality in ESEC Dietar PILZ.

Communications will also improve, with “optical communication relationships” and “spacecraft of the relay”, which allows the “trunk lines” that carry communication and network data flows as far as Saturn.

Esa predicted that AI and Quantum Technologies would play big roles in the jump forward, with smart materials, long deviation and modular useful loads, and everything is expected to progress in the coming years.
