A separate victim of a romantic fraud, which recently sued Citibank for not catching red flags, just filed a second court aimed at two other banks.
Michael Zidell sued Jank and Cathay Bank at East West and Cathay Bank at the California Federal Court and accused the banks of “closing their eyes towards their legal obligations and duties.”
Claimed he sent 18 transfers totaling nearly $ 7 million Fraudsman’s account At East West Jank and carried out 13 transfers in a total of over $ 9.7 million to an account at Cathay Bank.
Zidell He sued Citibank June 24, charging of ignoring red flags in 12 transfers totaling around $ 4 million per bank accounts reportedly held fraudsters.
Cointlegraph contacted East West Jordan and Cathay General Bancorp, parent company Cathay Bank, to comment.
In his court disputes, Zidell claimed that “Carolyn Parker”, the supposed owner of the company, contacted him on Facebook at the beginning of 2023 and created a couple and romantic relationship.
Parker reportedly told Zidell for a month in the relationship that millions have invested in non -more uncommon tokens, suggesting that he would do the same and direct it to a trading platform.
Zidell decided to invest and said in the next few months that he had sent 43 transfers totaling more than $ 20 million to different bank accounts provided by a platform that claimed to be processed on multiple banks due to the large volume of customer deposits.
He said that by April 2023 was a website for the “suddenly gone” platform together with its millions.
“Romance scam. Carpet move.
Like his complaint against Citibank, the latest court is striving to hold East West Jank and Cathay Bank for negligence and as “Aiders and Abettors” of securities fraud.
“The defendants through their ruthlessness, materially helped Parker and his conspirators by opening bank accounts, providing services, including wire transfers and allowing them to fraud the NFT company,” he said.

It also claimed that both banks were “obliged to perform proper care in monitoring suspicious transactions”, but “they could not find clear suspicious transactions”.
Zidell said “a large round amount of funds, among other things, should cause the bank’s investigation on suspicious activities.”
The complaint is also trying to hold the Eastern West Bank and Cathay Bank responsible for “the help and establishment of the abuse of older”, accusations that he did not do against Citibank.
Zidell does not mention his age in complaint but the Californian law defines elderly Like someone 65 years and above.
