Ton Foundation clarifies misleading announcement regarding UAE golden visa

The Ton Foundation denied the claim that it triggered official SAE GOLDEN VISA initiativeThe clarification that there is no formal partnership between the blockchain project and the UAE government.

The clarification is followed by extensive social media reports that indicate that digital assets investors could obtain a UAE residence through token betting.

At the weekend, Ton Promotions argued that individuals could provide a ten -year gold visa by becoming $ 100,000 tokens and paying a $ 35,000 processing fee. This has been framed as a more accessible alternative to traditional routes that require investments in real estate exceeding $ 500,000.

However, the UAE authorities quickly refuted these claims. In a joint statement published on July 7, the Federal Office for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), Securities and Commodity Office (SCA) and the Regulatory Office for Virtual Assets (Vara) denied any such initiative.

The ICP explained that gold visas remain limited to candidates who meet specific capability criteria, such as investors in real estate, entrepreneurs, scientists and exceptional talents, while digital assets are not currently included.

SCA added that virtual assets are regulated on the basis of a separate legal structure that does not apply to residential routes, while Vara has confirmed that TON is not licensed or authorized to work at the SAE regulatory framework.

In his 7th July declarationTon explained that the initiative concerned is a reconnaissance effort in cooperation with a licensed partner specializing in blockchain infrastructure and tokenized assets, but is evolving completely outside any formal agreement with SAE government entities.

According to the statement:

“In cooperation with the government of the United Arab Emirates, no official Golden Visa program has been launched, nor has TON awarded any government confirmation.”

Ton stressed that while the cooperation is trying to explore the compatible, blockchain framework that could one day support residential routes in the real world is still in early development. The statement also stressed that any decision on the application for a visa remains at the discretion of the UAE bodies.

This announcement brought industrial criticism for its initial marketing approach. Binance founder ChangPeng Zhao He called it “aggressive/misleading marketing”.

Ton said he welcomed the SAE joint statement and reaffirmed his obligation to regulate transparency and responsible development. The Foundation added that any future official involvement in gold visa programs would be communicated transparently through the relevant channels.

The TON Foundation continues to focus on the integration of assets in the real world with digital infrastructure in its wider efforts for tokenized On-Svezec services.
