AI And Smart Tech: AdExchanger Does CES 2025


Even if the advertising industry for CES turns out to be valid, not many people will make it to the showroom.

So this year, the AdExchanger editors combined these two worlds. We explored the showroom floor and shared insights about the technologies we think the advertising industry will be using in the coming years. Imagine out-of-home digital screens that correctly infer your age and gender and show you ads correctly. Or if data from smart washers and dryers could provide insights (or personalization) for CPG detergents.

We also discuss the responsible use of AI. Artificial intelligence can improve product design and user experience, explained Dave Meeker, EVP and head of AI innovation at Monks. In the showroom, the AI ​​bots showed off their personalities – it’s not too far-fetched to imagine that AI chatbots are programmed to reflect different brand identities.



AI is also used for personalization. But hyper-personalization is a double-edged sword. At its best, it’s convenient and easy to give you an experience that’s exactly what you want. At worst, it can eerily mirror your needs and feel creepy. Improving that experience was a challenge for marketers before AI and will continue to be a challenge after AI.

It’s clear that in 2025, most people in our industry will rely on their experiments with AI. In many conversations at CES, people talked about how they personally are trying to use AI technology to be more efficient at work. It can help them better analyze data or summarize briefs. But there are also concerns that AI will lead to job losses or co-opt creative content and deny them compensation.

What I want most from AI is transparency. To embrace its use, but for marketers and employees to share what they’re doing and how they’ve been doing it as we all get used to its presence in the coming year.
