Bitcoin Eyes Major Death Cross: Potential Price Scenarios

At press time, Bitcoin had fallen 0.23% to $104,880 over the past 24 hours, but was up 2.80% on the week.

Bitcoin’s recent price action follows a lull in the market amid the October flash crash, with a bearish death cross emerging in the coming days – which occurs when the MA 50 short-term moving average falls below the MA 200.

The daily MA 50 is currently trending lower, raising the possibility of a death crossover, the second such occurrence this year, the first in April.

If confirmed, this would be the fourth Bitcoin death cross since 2023, with the last three occurring in September 2023, August 2024 and April 2025, suggesting weak momentum in the near term.

Key price levels

Death of the cross have themselves proven unreliable, with the previous three in September 2023, August 2024 and April 2025 marking the bottom of Bitcoin’s price. Whether history will repeat itself in this case remains unknown.

According to Glassnode, at the current price of $104,880, Bitcoin is trading between the 0.85 and 0.75 cost basis quantiles ($108,500 and $100,600, respectively). Traders will watch these two levels, which previously acted as support and resistance, with a definitive breach of either of them likely to signal another directional trend.

Bitcoin could see increased volatility if the price breaks the short-term resistance around $111,000 and $116,000. These two levels will also be monitored.

This means that Bitcoin is currently trading in a key inflection zone. Market sentiment remains cautious, with signs of a potential local bottom around $100,000. The range between $100,000 and $108,000 could form medium-term support.
