Welcome to the Protocol, Coindesk’s Weekly Packing the most important stories in the technological development of cryptocurrency. I’m Margaux Nijkerk, Coindesk’s Tech & Protocols Reporter.
In this issue:
A new Ethereum design that could speed up a network: Ethereum could soon run twice as fast. This is, according to the new proposal that hovered developer Core Barnabé Monnot to shorten the slots in the network from 12 seconds to six seconds, which effectively doubled the number of blocks per minute. Idea, Part of the EIP-7782It could be included in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade, which was scheduled for 2026. Designs or publicly discussed ideas are common in the world of blockchain and do not necessarily move to testing. If the proposal was implemented, it would shorten the time spent in three key steps of consensus: block designs (3 seconds)certificates (1.5 seconds)and aggregation (1.5 seconds). This would shave six seconds from the current 12 -second cycle. Faster blocks mean faster confirmation, fresher data in the wallets and applications string, and a more smoother experience for users. – Shaurya Malwa Read more.
Zksync’s new makeshift “Airbender”: Matter Labs, a developer company on the Network of Layers-2 ZKSYNC, introduced its new cryptographic temporary temporary provisions “Airbender”. The browser is a key part for layer-2 because it generates evidence of zero knowledge that is then published in the blockchain base layer (in this case Ethereum) – The key process when connecting both chains and securing its security. The ZKSYNC team claims that Airbender is the fastest of its kind and provides evidence of Ethereum blocks in 35 seconds with a single GPU and overcomes its competitors. Quick speeds can save transactions. “We are entering a fraction of the territory of cents, which is decisive for key cases of use, including micropacts, high -frequency trading and decentralized social,” said Latter Labs, co -founder of Latter Labs in an interview with Coindesk. “Faster evidence will unlock faster finality, cheaper applications and fundamental evidence that can be generated anywhere, not only on the massive GPU farms.” – Margaux nijkerk Read more.
Norwegian Plans The Prohibition of New Cryptological Data Centers: The Government of Norwegian Laboristics revealed plans to impose a temporary prohibition of any new Krypto data centers that use energy evidence systems that are evidence of work, work. on the Reuters agency. The proposed rule could kick in the autumn of 2025 if it is approved, and is aimed at maintaining electricity for a more productive industry. “Cryptocurrency mining is very energy demanding and creates few jobs and income for the local community,” said Karianne Tung, Minister for Digitization, and added this step reflects the government “clear intention to reduce cryptocurrency mining in Norway as much as possible.” Norway with extensive renewable hydropower sources has long attracted bitcoin miners looking for low -cost clean energy. Companies like cryptovault have established operations outside Oslo – Data running focuses on 40 MW, heat recycling in dry wood or warm near buildings. – Shaurya Malwa Read more.
The XRP Ledger edition brings new features and upgrades: Ripplex that supports developers of the XRP book has a Released version 2.5.0 from “rippled” its reference implementation of the network. The new version comes with a number of changes that expand the functionality and network management tools. New changes are now open to vote according to the XRP change process, allowing changes to the protocol after two weeks of support from more than 80% of credible validators. Seven amendments include “Tokenescrow”, which allows storage for the tokens and multi -purpose “batch”, allowing the atomic design of grouped transactions; and “permit” that allows Dex operators to check the participation in compliance. Ripplex asked validators to upgrade as soon as possible to the latest version to ensure the continuity of the service. The update lands when XRPL continues to evolve in a more flexible platform that is known by the permission of driven cases of use definitions and business developers. – Shaurya Malwa Read more.
