With video becoming a key focus of LinkedIn, the platform is now working on it a new way of displaying video posts in the main feedwith larger video panels that will run between regular posts.
As you can see in this preview from LinkedIn Product Director Jake Poses, the new video format will also include rounded corners on the screen, making videos stand out even more in the stream.
Although the main element is the height and prominence of the screen, especially in the mobile application.
Tap on any clip and you’ll be taken to LinkedIn’s TikTok-like content video feed, which has seen Usage growth of 36% this year.
Which is not a surprise. Video has long been the most engaging content format across all social apps (including LinkedIn), and this TikTok-style format has already proven popular on Facebook, IG, Snapchat, etc.
It is also particularly attractive to younger users, and as more and more of this audience moves into professional careers, it makes sense that LinkedIn would also see an increase in interest in the same.
Although I still wonder if the TikTok format is particularly suited to LinkedIn content. Many of the videos I’ve seen on the app are generic advice from potential LinkedIn influencers, and it doesn’t seem like fun material that resonates with other apps.
But still, as a format, it is aligned with wider trends. And given the notable growth in usage, LinkedIn should try to capitalize on that wherever it can.
Given the platform’s focus, it’s worth evaluating your own approach to LinkedIn video in 2025 and whether you’ll also be able to leverage this element as LinkedIn tries to do a bigger thing.
Apart from this, LinkedIn also has video carousels in the feedand other elements, and in general, the video gets a lot of attention in the app.
It’s worth thinking about.
LinkedIn says it’s currently testing this updated video display format with select users on iOS.
