Meta wants to expand its opportunities for creators to earn affiliate links in their Facebook posts by creating sponsored product links more prominent within Reels, videos, photos and text posts.
As you can see in this example, Meta wants to increase exposure for affiliate links by giving them more presence within Reels, occupying the bottom segment of the user interface.
It also has a new format for affiliate links in text posts:
Meta has also improved its display of them within the comments section, providing even more opportunity for exposure.
Until now, affiliate links could only be displayed as URLs in descriptions, so this is a significant improvement in exposure for such partnerships.
Finally, Meta is also introducing a new auto-detection system for affiliate links from selected domains.
When an affiliate link is detected, Meta will remind you to use the “paid partnership” tag and will also pre-populate the affiliate link information when you click “add affiliate product link”. A simplified procedure will make it easier for more creators to participate in such programs.
It’s a significant update for creators looking to monetize Facebook, with these updated presentation options helping to better match their viewers with promotions that benefit the creator.
Larger, more clickable screens definitely attract attention and it will be interesting to see how much more sales brands and creators can achieve with these updated formats.
Meta says the updates are rolling out to all sites and professional profiles globally, so if you get on board now, you might be able to boost your affiliate sales just before Christmas.
