While TikTok is still live for US users, it definitely is he is not out of the woods yetwith the platform still technically banned, based on the Senate-approved bill, and President Trump yet to negotiate a new arrangement.
Which could scare off many TikTok creators, who rely on the app for their income. And it’s this group that Meta is now trying to lure to Instagram, with a new bonus program for moving TikTok creators.
Over the weekend, Meta he quietly began contacting the creators of TikTok with a new offer, which he calls “Breakthrough Bonus” program.
The new scheme will offer creators with large followings on other apps (i.e. TikTok) an expanded capacity to immediately start earning larger amounts for posting their content directly on Facebook and IG.
According to Target:
“The Breakthrough bonus program is for creators who are new to Facebook or Instagram. Accepted creators will be able to instantly earn money on reels, longer videos, photos and text posts through Facebook’s invite-only content monetization program – plus earn up to $5,000 in additional Breakthrough bonuses to help you get off the ground during the first 90 days. “
Which could be a smart way for Meta to capitalize on the instability and uncertainty in TikTok.
It works like this:
In addition to these bonuses, Meta is also offering free one-year subscriptions to Meta Verified for select participants, while also adding new Facebook profile views of follower counts on other apps (including IG, YouTube, and of course, TikTok).
This could attract a lot of edgy TikTokers to their platforms, while Meta also wants to highlight its ongoing support for creators to drive more interest:
“Last year, Facebook paid creators more than $2 billion for reels, longer videos, photos and text posts, and we’re committed to helping creators thrive on our platform.”
And that’s not all. Meta says that Frin the coming months, it will also offer some TikTok creators exclusive content offers to help them develop their communities on Instagram and Facebook.
It’s an attractive offer, and again, with TikTok still under a big cloud, you can imagine that at least some creators will reconsider their options and look for a more stable contract.
As such, it’s a smart push from Meta, who also added a number of new Instagram elements to further align IG tools with those available on TikTok.
This could make Instagram the best destination for TikTok creators.
Much remains to be done, and many will likely wait to hear more about Trump’s plan to save the app. But you might see a lot more of your TikTok favorites appear in your IG feeds.
