WhatsApp Adds More Video Effects, Improved Reactions UI

Messaging is now the primary way users connect, and so is WhatsApp performed some new updates to provide more creative options for your private conversations to improve engagement.

First, WhatsApp adds more camera effects for video calls to expand your creative options.

According to WhatsApp:

“You loved the effects we launched on video calls last year. Now, when you take and send a video or photo in your chats, you can choose from the same 30 backgrounds, filters and effects to transform your shots.”

WhatsApp has added a number of video effects for video chats last monthwhich allows you to add virtual masks during video calls.

And now you’ll have more digital overlays to choose from, adding another element of fun to your conversations.

WhatsApp also makes it easy to create stickers from your selfies:

“Just tap ‘Create Sticker’ and you’ll see a camera option to take a selfie and create your own sticker.”

Selfie stickers are a personalized, customized way to enhance your conversations, and can be another fun addition to your discussions.

The option is available on Android as of today, and will soon be available on iOS as well.

WhatsApp users will now also be able to share sticker packs with friends, directly within chats. And finally, WhatsApp also adds a simplified user interface for reacting to chat.

“You can now double-tap a message to react and quickly scroll through your most used reactions.”

These are minor updates, but relevant, especially regarding the expanded use of private messages.

Earlier this week, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri reiterated that messaging is now primary way of connecting peopleon Instagram and in other Meta applications and with WhatsApp usage is growing in the USit is quickly becoming a key link for many, many people.

As such, adding more tools and features, no matter how minor it may seem, could go a long way in improving its ability to connect and increase its appeal to a wider audience.

The more Meta can push this, the better, which is why updates like this are relevant.
