In a recent interview, Matt Mullenweg has sent three scandals and controversies from his past that have long been forgotten to show how it is possible that a scandal with a WP engine will also be forgotten. One of the examples he cited, a hot Nacho scandal, brought Google to ban WordPress.org, caused Mullenwega to call influential technological leaders, and resulted in his shame in the main media.
The hot Nacho scandal, named after a software company called Hot Nacho, was an intense event for Matt Mullenweg, which shows what he endured in the past and may help explain his relationship to the WP engine today.
Matt remembers three forgotten controversy
In a part of the interview in which Matt diminishes the current WP engine (WPE), he cited three scandals and controversy from the last ten to twenty years to show that he was wrong, and also that he did not distract from aggressive attention-gathering of the open code defense defense WordPress, but over time, this is mostly forgotten. “You know, some of these previous controversies that have gained the main media coverage, you know CNN, I had this hot Nacho scandal in the first few years WordPress or the thesis of the fight or the Easter massacre of topics, as well as all these things that I am mentioning that I You probably didn’t hear.
It used to be as half of my Wikipedia page, now it’s not. Today if you go to my Wikipedia page, their PR company has a whole passage about it. I think in 5 years it may be a sentence or not there at all.
So that is not my first born. Sometimes you have to fight to protect the ideals of the open code and the community and your trademark. “
Hot nacho scandal
Hot Nach scandal was named after a SEO software company that paid Matt Mullenweg to host a WordPress.org website, which resulted in Google to ban WordPress.org website.
At the time, Mullenweg was still working on Cnet’s work at WordPress on the side when the scandal broke. The news was presented in publications such as Ars Technica, Eweek, MSNBC, Slashdot and Register.
Article 31 March 2005 published in the Register contained Lourid title of article, “Blog Star ‘Fessess Up to Payoli Spam Fraud“And describes a shocking transaction that Mullenweg edited with a SEO software company:

Repeated Jason boots
Jason boiler is a widely respected blogger who is known as a pioneer of independent publishing. So it had to be disappointing that Matt Mullenweg was the recipient flak from someone like a boiler, who wrote:
“WordPress uses your high ranking page to play Google AdWords. It stinks like last week’s fish. Is WordPress and WordPress.org an open code project as we all said or is it a company? Either way, the contribution to the noise of unwanted mail on the web is uncomfortable. “
The hot nachho explains its side
The founder of the Hot Nacho company explained that they were developing SEO writing software and wanted to test it at WordPress.org. Matt agreed to accept payment for the host of articles, concealing the links to them so that the website visitors would not see them. It was not sophisticated either. Mullenweg simply used a CSS to push links out of screen.

The progress of the hot Nacho scandal was that WordPress received more donations in four days than in the previous year.
